Technical audit and consulting: a clear diagnosis before expensive decisions

Is your website slow, invisible on Google, or is an agency proposing an expensive new system and you’re not sure you need it? I review what is really going on and you get a clear, prioritised plan — explained in plain language, without jargon.

Most common reasons

What I can help with

Most technical problems have a clear cause. The job is to find it quickly — before money is spent on the wrong solution.

Measuring Core Web Vitals, finding bottlenecks (images, scripts, server, plugins) and a speed-up plan with an estimate of the impact.

Checking indexing, titles and descriptions, structure, duplicate URLs, sitemaps, hreflang tags and structured data.

Outdated add-ons, missing security headers, SSL, backups and risks that need fixing right away.

WordPress, a SaaS platform or a custom build? An independent assessment based on your goals, budget and maintenance.

A second opinion on an agency’s quote or a technical specification — before you sign or launch a tender.

Recurring errors, code nobody dares to touch and systems that work “somehow” — diagnosis and a remediation plan.

Audit

What a website technical audit covers

An audit is a systematic review, not a “quick look”. I use the same tools as Google (PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse, Search Console) plus manual code review, because automated tools don't see everything. The review covers:

  • Speed on mobile and desktop (LCP, INP, CLS) — lab data and real-user data
  • Size and format of images, fonts, scripts and stylesheets
  • Indexing: robots.txt, sitemap, canonical URLs, redirects and 404 errors
  • Titles, descriptions, heading structure (H1–H3) and internal linking
  • Structured data (Schema.org) and how the site appears in search results
  • Mobile display, readability and basic accessibility
  • HTTPS, security headers and outdated components
  • Contact forms and the path to an enquiry — where visitors drop off

The result is a report with priorities: first what affects visits and enquiries most, then the rest. To understand the basics before an audit, read why a website is slow and how to check it.

Process

How it works

  1. Describe the problem

Send the website address or a description of the system and what bothers you. I reply with a proposed scope and price.

  2. Analysis

Measurements, code and configuration review. A website audit usually takes a few working days.

  3. Report and call

We go through the findings together, so it’s clear what is urgent and what can wait.

  4. Implementation (optional)

I make the fixes, or you hand them to your team — the plan is written for both cases.

FAQ

Questions about audits and consulting

What exactly do I get after an audit?

A written report with the issues found, ranked by importance: what directly costs you visits or enquiries, what is a security risk and what is cosmetic. Each item explains how to fix it and roughly how much work it takes — so you decide what to do, with whom and in which order.

Do you need access to my hosting or website admin?

Not for the first review — speed, SEO basics and security headers can be checked from outside. For a deeper analysis (server, database, plugins, Search Console) we agree on access separately, and I never ask for passwords by email.

Can you also fix what you find?

I can, but you don’t have to hire me for it. The audit is just as useful if your current agency or developer does the fixes — the report is written so any professional can implement it.

Do you consult on projects you don’t build?

Yes. I can review another agency’s quote, a specification or a technology choice and tell you what is reasonable, what is overpriced and which questions to ask before signing.
